I bought my Miele Silver Moon after extensive research into vacuums. I found it difficult to compare apples to apples in most vacs. I looked at Oreck, Simplicity, Electrolux and Miele.

The Silver Moon is really an excellent product. When you actually work with it there is nothing about it that feels cheap. To me, the Electrolux and Oreck just felt like cheap lightweight plastic. The quality of the components, the way everything connects together, the performance are all excellent. Like many German built things, it is simple, understated, attractive and just plain works.

The Silver Moon is highly rated for allergy sufferers and I can see why. I simply could not believe that the air that came out. It was SO clean and fresh.

My favorite thing about the Silver Moon is that it is much quieter than other vacs. I can run it with my 1 year old in the room and she doesn’t start crying (which she did with my other vac).

The actual cleaning ability/suction is good. I have a central vac (Beam) for another part of my house and this certainly outperforms that. The suction is fairly comparable but the power nozzle on the Miele is much nicer. The nozzle gives you the ability to adjust the suction and turn off the beater bar which is nice for doing area rugs.
