I researched looking for a ‘bagged’ type of vacuume and found this one for around $145. At first it worked beautifully! Then, the on/off switch began to stay in the ON position. I took it apart and repaired it several times, then just gave up as it will not go off after 2 times after repair.

The next thing to break was the ‘plastic carpet heigth adjustment rod which became almost impossible to move when the unit was about a month old. I then noticed a brown piece of plastic about a half inch was rattling around the roller one day. I checked it out and then found that the level adjuster slid w/o resistance, but the level did not move….

Today is the one that took the cake; The ‘plastic anchor’ which retained the metal cable end which makes the motor drive to power the unit back and forth was broken… This is the straw which broke the camels back. I felt it my civic duty to take the time to warn other consumers about this piece of plastic junk which falls apart in no time flat!

I called Hoover and they suggested I drive 60 miles each way to take it to their repair place… They did not have the common decency to email me a UPS shipping sticker to ship the lower half of the unit, like other vendors do when their units become defective. I then emailed HOOVER about me being disabled and not able to take the unit 5 county’s away from my home and they did not respond to my request.

My Mother used Hoover for 60 years, I have used Hoover for the last 35 years and now, I am so disenchanted with them and their cheap plastic junk vacuumes that I will just pony up the extra money and buy a which although made of plastic, is better designed and does not fall apart in so many ways. I would also suggest that NOBODY buy these pieces of junk as is non existent at HOOVER.
