This vacuum works great and has excellent suction and a nice array of accessories. It would be a great vacuum, but it has a fatal flaw that Hoover has totally failed to admit to despite hundreds and hundreds of virtually identical posts on the internet from unfortunate owners. Behind those hundreds of posts there are surely many thousands of owners who don’t use the internet or didn’t bother to post a review about their vacuum, even though they’ve experienced the same problem. In short, the motors on these things chronically burn out, usually just after the warranty runs out depending on how much you use it.

I have two Windtunnel vacuums, this one and another similar model, and both are in the shop today for repairs after breaking at the same time. The newest one needs a new motor as I expected, and that’s going to run $80-$90, more than 1/3rd of the purchase price. I purchased the newest vacuum in June of 06 and it failed July or August of 07. I don’t have a house full of kids and there are only two of us living here so I would definitely rate my usage is well below average. My other Windtunnel just has a broken belt(for the second time), and needs new brushes, which my newest Windtunnel also needed.
