Flair by Hoover S2220
Pros: Light weight and maneuvers easily
Weaknesses: Small capacity; expensive filter is not readily available
I purchased my Flair by Hoover in Augustof 2005 at Sears in Naples at the Coastland Mall. It stopped working in December of 2005. It needed a new filter cup. So I went to Sears only to find out (after trips back and forth from the parts department to the vacuum department) that the filter cost 6.99 (plus tax) and there would be a 6.00 delivery charge. I’d have to wait as long as two weeks for it. The Machine only cost me about 50.00! I couldn’t believe I would have to spend 25% of its initial cost to maintain it after only 5 months!!
Decent Lightweight Vacuum
Pros: Lots of power, ease of maneuverability
Weaknesses: Sometimes too strong, dust cup seems cheap and is sometimes ineffective. Price is a bit steep for a lightweight vacuum.
I use this a couple of times now since purchased, once for a short cleanup in my kitchen, the other time was a full clean of the carpets in my apartment. I have to say that it does what its intended to do, and cleans both bare floors and carpets well — there’s two settings, one for each of those.
The vacuum is rather lightweight and easy to maneuver. When I was finished vacuuming from the full cleaning, I was surprised at how much dust and debris collected in the little cup. However, most of it collected and bunched up at the top on the filter, not really collecting in the cup itself. So it was rather annoying to pull the dust off the filter and put it in the garbage. But that’s the same if I had a hand-held dustbuster, so I wasn’t expecting much more.
The only real problem I had with it was that the suction was so strong that it wound up eating a pair of pants that was on the floor, and I had to pull them out of the rotating brush. Probably my fault, but it does show the strength of the vacuum.
All in all, a decent vacuum for its size, albeit a bit pricey.
Hoover Vacuum
Pros: Easy manuverability, relatively quite when compared to other broom vacuums
Weaknesses: Dirt collection container not very big
Very good vacuum. Easy to maneuverability when cleaning, rotates around very easily. Does a good job picking up dirt. The dirt collection container could be bigger. The on/off switch doesn’t feel very robust.
Not impressed
Pros: Light
Easy assembly
Weaknesses: Disappointed; doesn’t suck as well as reviewed by others.
When I received my package, I was saddened by a big gash on the side of the box. Everything looks intact so I assembled the unit within 2 minutes. I turned it on and used it on my hardwood floor. It felt very flimsy with the way it was designed (I guess for maneuverability sake). It didn’t pick up all the drywall dust particles (drilling into drywall for tv install) as hoped. So I tried turning on the brush and it still didn’t work too well. It also doesn’t pick up all of my styrofoam pieces that were scattered on the ground. Not much I can do about it now.
2 stars because it didn’t COMPLETELY not work. It worked somewhat.
Great for the Price and Pretty to Look At
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, appealing shiny red color
Weaknesses: Wish the cord was longer
We recently moved in to a brand new home with dark hardwood floors. We have 3 indoor cats and 3 kids and I was forever sweeping which only seemed to moved the dust around and I didn’t want to use a big vacuum for fear of scratching the floors. We did some research and ordered this based on past reviews. They were right on. It is sleek and I love the shiny red color. My 4 year old now asks to vacuum-it is that easy to use. Because of the amount of floor I have to cover I wish the cord were a little longer. This also works well on the rug under the table. The dust cup is easy to empty. I recommend this for quick clean ups and it would also be great in an apartment because it is so compact.
Hoover S2220
Pros: very good for quick pick-up for small room
Weaknesses: kind of noisy for a small vacumm, but it is not a big problem anyway.
The vacumm is very powerful for quick pick-up. My room is not big, so this works perfectly. Besides, it is small and easy to store. I use it almost everyday. Really, I am very pleased with this purchase.
