Okay, I have written many, many, many reviews on vacuum cleaners in the past. Now, making my own purchases, I have found the vacuum cleaner that I have fallen madly in love with.

The date: July 12. Where:Best buy. What: Hoover canister. It seemed as though I was destined to see the appliance associate demonstrating the hoover canister. I quickly picked one up(by the way, to the nice lady that I elbowed for mine, I apologize) and checked out. I was hesitant when I brought it home, but how quickly I became attached.

The machine is so simple to put together: You receive one 7 foot hose, one telescoping wand, and a 2 way floor nozzle. The canister itself has two peddles - one for on and off operation, and one for cord rewinding.(I know! I was excited too - fun with a vacuum AND a cord rewind?!)The cord reaches about 14 feet, when it is fully unwound.

The hose is a flexible, durable plastic with a curved handle for easier cleaning. The telescoping wand, made of stainless steel, can reach from about 2 feet to nearly 4 1/2 feet for floor cleaning. The floor nozzle has two positions, carpet and bare floor(although, the bare floor setting makes the brushes pop out on the bottom so it can “sweep” the floor. I like the brushes for my carpets too - it gives it an extra little pop to get all the dirt out of the nap)

The canister vacuum also has a handy dial on the carry handle - the dial can speed up or slow down suction! This is a great tool for dusting drapes, cleaning ceiling fans, or my favorite, a high setting for cleaning behind the refridgerator.

So as I start to vacuum, it dawns on me that I’m just vacuuming the hardwood floors, which it does a fantastic job on. So I take it to the bedrooms in my house, where we have wall-to-wall carpet and area rugs. It did a great job! It’s not comparable to a full sized upright with a beater bar, but for a quick clean up it does the trick. With three dogs, it cleans up all of the hair and dust caught in the rugs. And here’s a tip for the steel wand - take off the floor nozzle, and use the bare end to clean hair and dirt from behind your toilet and in the dryer vent in your dryer! There is SO much stuff in there, I can’t even begin to tell you how much lint was stuck inside of the crevice.

So, here we are - time to empty your vacuum - no problem! Open up the front lid, slide the paper bag out and toss! It has a rubber seal around the hole, so dust and debris can’t fly out when you release it.

However, I must advise consumers - Best Buy does NOT SELL TYPE R30 BAGS! I have to purchase mine at a vacuum cleaner shop, but I go there anyway to get my upright bags. Know this before you purchase, because you cannot purchase them at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or department stores. They usually sell in the vacuum store for about $11.50 for 8 bags.

Over all, I love my hoover canister. It really does help instead of sweeping the hard floors and cleaning my furniture with the upright attachments. Do yourself a favor - try it. If you don’t like it, take it back!

UPDATE 8/18/2007:

I have recently retired the Hoover BCV to car cleaning duty. The bags were too hard to find, and WAY too expensive online to order continuously. I purchased a Kenmore Canister to take its place (Model 26212) and when Epinions adds this model, I will be sure to take full advantage and submit my review.
