Our home has tile floors on the first floor and after years of using the Swiffer Wet Jet we decided we needed something heavier duty since we have dogs (including an accident prone puppy). We first got the Hoover Floormate 500, which was DOA, so I opted to upgrade to the 800 spin-scrub.

Right out of the box it has done a great job cleaning up the floors as a dry vacuum, wet vacuum, and a scrubber. We rarely use it as a dry vacuum, but it’s used frequently as a wet vacuum and a spin-scrubber. Puppy accidents are gone in seconds, including when the puppy insists on spilling all the water out of her bowl (1/2 gallon bowl!). It’s fast to set up and very easy to use.

The advantages of this are endless. It scrubs your floor which makes it a better alternative to traditional mopping (and less strenuous) plus with the vacuum you do not have to worry about leftover water on the floor, sometimes you’ll need to let the floor dry a little, but most of the water will be picked up by the unit. This does a great job on our tile floors. (Very) dried mud or other hard messes like that may take a few passes / washes to get it all up. The unit is not overly heavy (about as heavy as your average vacuum cleaner) even when it’s full of water.

Even though the instructions recommend it, I haven’t had an issue with leaving the cleaning solution in side the container for a few weeks at a time, while I’m sure hot water will help with a severe mess (dried mud, etc..), even the cold water does a good job with standard cleaning.

No job is too small and no job is too big for this vacuum. You can quickly, and easily refill the cleaning tank and empty (and clean) the used tank (less than 5 minutes) so you are not wasting your time fussing with parts all over the place wondering what goes where, reassembly is a piece of cake.

As I said, this is great on tile floors, but I would not recommend it on hardwood or laminate floors, it does tend to leave a small film of water, which may cause warping in your flooring.

The vacuum does not seem like it would do well in a very heavy duty environment (workshop, garage etc..), for this you would be better off buying a wet/dry vac or a shop vac.

It also comes with a long cord so you do not have to worry about unplugging and plugging in the vacuum often. The unit itself can fold in half for easy storage, and the included carry-all easily attaches to the front of the unit for even easier storage and access.

I cannot comment on the grout cleaner attachment and solution since I have not used them yet.
