Hoover F7220900 SteamVac V2 Upright Vacuum Review Great Steam Cleaner It removed all the stains I have one room of carpet in the family room so it gets dirty. I decided to buy a steam cleaner so that I wouldn't have to move my furniture...
After years using a cumbersome attachment to my Shop-vac to steam clean my carpets, I was ready for something easier. I read numerous reviews and found one thing in common: upright steam cleaners are not very sturdy or dependable. The brand that seemed to break the least (according to the reviews) was Hoover. It was also recommended to me by two family members that were happy with their Hoover models.
One thing I noticed in shopping around was that Hoover seems to have numerous different models, complicating my search even more. I settled on the SteamVac V2 and purchased it at Wal-Mart.
Assembly was very easy, two bolts and a few snap on pieces. About 5 minutes. Everything is made of a high impact plastic which gives the impression that it is cheap but this makes the unit light.
There is a 16oz tank for the solution that is attached to the 1 gallon tank for hot water. Then there is a separate tank for dirty water that has a lint filter to prevent lint or pet hair from entering the motor. There is also a secondary lint filter on the bottom of the unit. Both tanks are very easy to remove and carry.
Cleaning was very easy and did a very good job. You have to remember to move the unit very slowly for it to be most effective. This can be difficult when you’re used to vacuuming very fast. For a large living room you’ll go through about 3 gallons of water and at least 16oz of solution which runs about $16 a gallon.
After maintaining my carpet with my Shop-vac carpet cleaner I didn’t expect big improvements, but I was surprised to see the unit bringing in dirty water. Stains came out very well with some deeper stains requiring a few more passes.
All pieces come apart very easily for cleaning. The unit has a very long cord and also comes with an attachment for cleaning stairs or furniture. I agree with other reviews that the plastic piece used to hold the cord/hose attachment doesn’t do a very good job of holding it in place for storage, but this is not a major concern.
Overall a good cleaner at a good price.
