This is close to one of best vacuums I have used. I just turned in a VAX X5 which broke after owning it for less than one year. I had just finished vacuuming when my VAX X5 broke. The best thing you should do if you buy the one I had is plug it in, vacuum straight to the garbage can, unplug it and throw it in. It cost around $300. Luckily, I had bought insurance when I got it, so I was able to exchange it. My son had shown me the NV31 a few weeks ago, and I decided to take another look at it as my choice for exchange. I chose it after trying it in the store.

Once I came home with the NV31, I put it together and vacuumed. It picked up so much stuff I had to empty it twice and clean the filters. The first time I used it, the carpet actually looked cleaner and I could not believe all the dirt this picked up! You could hear the dirt going in the vacuum. I have pets all over the house…, , kids hair, shoe dirt, animal dirt, people dirt. The container holds more than you think but not as much as others. It has carpet height adjustment and filters you can wash. No more buying $25 filters or bags. I have been using bag-less vacs for a while. They are messy but you only have do that once a week. They give you an attachment to put on the wand so you can use it to do kitchen floors or hardwood floors, or turn off and just use vacuum. When using on tile/hardwood floors, the would just blow the dirt in front of the vacuum away and all around. The NV31 does not. I used it on the kitchen floor and it picked everything up.

With the NV31, this is the first time that I could use all of the tools that came with the vacuum. They actually worked! The telescoping wand works great. (The other vacuum had one, but it did not work at all.) The suction on this one is pretty good. You can use the attachment to get under cabinets much easier. I used one of the tools to clean the vent on the bottom of the fridge and another tool to clean the ceiling. Mine are popcorn textured and everything sticks to them. It cleaned the ceiling easily. The other brush is a brush. It is like a mini vacuum - you put the attachment brush on the wand and it has its own . Other vacuums have this, but this one works a little better than others I’ve had. I cleaned the couch with this brush and the difference was unbelievable! The wand comes apart if you want to use just the vacuum handle to put attachments on.

I would give it an 8 to 9 out of 10 with 10 being the best. The ergonomics are great. It moves good, fits hand well, and the items are easy to use. Does it work? Yes yes yes. Its is a good vacuum and the other guys better take notice. A few small design adjustments and this will be at the top. I really like this vacuum except for the cleaning of filters. It empties like other vacuums from the bottom. Noise not as loud as my other vacuums but not super quiet either. I have used it four times since I put it together and I am still amazed the dirt it pulls from the carpet. Take a good look at it at the store, plug it in, run it and try some others and see what you think.
